FRC kickoff this year was on January 9th! After the release of the teaser for FIRST Stronghold, 1261 was super excited to see what this year’s game has in store. We decided to attend the Georgia Tech live stream release of the game. We are ready for this season and we cant wait to start strategizing, prototyping, building,and programming.

We had a blast at our Robots at the Ridge VEX competition on Saturday, November 21st, at Peachtree Ridge High School. We would like to thank all teams that were in attendance, as well as all the volunteers who graciously supported us throughout the event.

Again, thanks to all the teams who competed and all the volunteers who helped make our event a success!

This weekend, 8 of the team’s girls visited our friends at Walton Robotics for an all day conference about the role that girls play not only in FIRST Robotics, but also in STEM fields. We started off the day by helping to put together “Outreach in a Box” kits which went home with teams who attended as a resource to expose younger girls interested in STEM to chemical engineering. Following that, we attended a panel discussion on the challenges facing women in STEM careers and got some advice from professionals. Finally, we ended the day with a creative engineering challenge and LinkedIn training.

A good time was had by all and we’d like to thank Walton Robotics and Georgia FIRST for the great day!

The Gwinnett Daily Post features the PRHS Robo Lions in their article: “With qualifier on tap, Peachtree Ridge stretches its robotics reach”.

This Saturday, October 10th, the Robo Lions competed at the GRITS offseason event, hosted by Walton robotics (team 2974) and Georgia FIRST. After an exciting morning of competition, with great effort put forth by our rookie drivers, we were chosen the join the second seed alliance, led by team 4189. Our alliance was rounded out by team 1648. We played strongly in semifinals, but lost in finals to the 1st seed alliance, composed of 2974, 4188, and 4468. On behalf of all of team 1261, we would like to offer our sincere congratulations to those teams, they played a fantastic set of matches.

Along with our own team competing, team Shockwave (5840), a rookie team from Terrell High School competed using our secondary practice robot. Coached by one of the Robo Lions, the team played hard and learned a lot. After a series of successful qualification matches, they, competing as team “6061” came out in the top ten teams, and were selected as a member of the 4th seed alliance by team 5109, and helped to select the alliance’s third member, team 1746. Though their competition ended in semi finals, they were an amazing team and played remarkably well! We are looking forward to competing with them in the future!

The Robo Lions enjoyed the opportunity to shoot our t-shirt robot into the crowd during opening and closing ceremonies. We were also honored to win the GRITS outreach award, for our large number of rookies, as well as our work in our community and with other robotics teams.

Lastly we would like to extend a huge thank you to Georgia FIRST and Walton Robotics as well as all of the fantastic volunteers and alumni who made this great event possible!

Last weekend the PRHS Robolions participated in the Duluth Fall Festival. We shot T-Shirts from our T-Shirt Robot from a truck that our sponsor, Howard Brothers, let us use. They also supplied us with the T-Shirts to shoot. Big thanks to the Howard Brothers. We had a great time!

Last Saturday the PRHS Robo Lions participated in the annual Suwanee Day parade. We won the Most Innovative Float award, with our float that included our T-Shirt Bot, from which we shot t-shirts and football. It was a blast!
